Psychotherapy for adults
Cognitive-behavioral therapy
Alongside psychoanalysis, depth psychology-based psychotherapy and systemic psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy is one of four scientifically based psychotherapy methods recognized in Germany. Behavioral therapy assumes that psychological complaints are the result of unconscious and conscious learning processes. This implies that learned behavioral patterns can also be changed again. At the beginning of the treatment, we work together to determine which conditions in the patient's life history and current life situation have contributed to the development and maintenance of the psychological symptoms. On this basis, specific, measurable goals are set and the treatment plan is derived. The focus is on overcoming problems in the here and now and bringing about positive changes in experience, behavior and thinking. Various techniques and methods are used, such as cognitive restructuring, confrontation exercises or relaxation techniques. The patient is guided to actively change the way they act, think and feel, according to the motto “help for self-help”. Existing skills and resources are identified and used for this process and new skills are learned and practiced. The approach is solution- and resource-oriented.

Online Therapy
Our psychotherapeutic services can also be provided in our practice as video sessions. We use a provider certified by the German Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (Kassenärztliche Bundesvereinigung, KBV), which provides technically secure end-to-end encryption. The costs for the video sessions are usually covered by private health insurance companies and state aid offices. During an initial consultation on site or via video, it is clarified whether pure online therapy is possible or whether the service requires direct personal contact.
Couples Therapy
In addition to individual therapy, we also offer couples counseling and couples therapy for relationship problems. Couples therapy is generally a self-pay service; the costs are not covered by health insurance.
Psychotherapy in English and French
We provide therapy sessions in English (Sarah Wagner/Kira Sturm) and French (Kira Sturm).
